Top Toaroha Hut
Top Toaroha Hut is a DOC six-bunk standard hut in the Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River area of New Zealand’s West Coast. Use is first come, first served; standard bookings aren’t required as long as you’ve bought the correct hut ticket for your night. Sleeping is organized around six beds, with an honesty-box payment process (adult, youth, and child/infant rates) and an optional backcountry hut pass option for unlimited use across many standard and serviced huts.
Inside, you’ll find mattresses, a fireplace, and pit latrine toilets. The hut page lists the trip approach as typically taking 4–5 days and grades it for advanced/expert-level travel in that area. Day-to-day water availability isn’t provided at the hut. Fees to 30 June 2026 are given on the hut page, with new rates applying from 1 July 2026.
