Top Tuke Hut
Top Tuke Hut is a basic four-bunk backcountry hut operated by the Department of Conservation in the Mikonui River–Kakapotahi River area of New Zealand’s West Coast. Use is free and bookings aren’t required—access is first come, first served.
The hut is for advanced, expert trips and sits in the Hokitika area (Paparoa National Park Visitor Centre is the linked contact point for the hut listing). Water is available from a stream, and toilets are not at the hut; plan pit latrine disposal where appropriate. The hut has mattresses for sleeping, but no fireplace is provided.
