Tunnel Creek Hut
Tunnel Creek Hut is a basic six-bunk hut in the Haast, Paringa and Moeraki Rivers area on the West Coast, run by the Department of Conservation (Te Papa Atawhai). Bookings aren’t required; it’s free and operated on a first come, first served basis.
The hut has a fireplace, mattresses, and a pit latrine. It’s located in the South Westland area; use includes staying in the hut and as a base for trips around the river country near Haast Junction (Haast Junction Visitor Centre: Haast Junction corner of SH6 and Jackson Bay Road).
