Upper Cromel Hut

Upper Cromel Hut is a basic two-bunk backcountry hut operated by the Department of Conservation in the Eyre Mountains/Taka Rā Haka Conservation Park area (Southland). It’s built for simple, first-come use: no bookings are required, and it sleeps up to 2 people on two bunks.

The hut has a mattress and toilets with pit latrine disposal. No drinking water is provided, and no fireplace is available—plan to arrive self-sufficient for water and cooking/heat needs.
