Upper Princhester Hut

Upper Princhester Hut is a basic two-bunk backcountry hut in the Takitimu Conservation Area (Southland). It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is free to use on a first-come, first-served basis—no bookings are required.

Expect a navigation-first hut: there is no DOC track access, so you need to plan your route and reach it by navigating yourself. The hut has sleeping gear (mattress) and includes a fireplace; toilets are pit-latrine style and there is no drinking water provided.
