Waimakariri Falls Hut
Waimakariri Falls Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Arthur’s Pass National Park (Canterbury). It’s a basic six-bunk hut used for multi-day travel in the North Canterbury / Arthur’s Pass area.
Use is first-come, first-served with no bookings required. It sleeps six, has mattresses, nearby drinking water, and pit latrines; there’s no fireplace. The hut sits in mapped avalanche paths, so avoid using it during and after heavy snowfall or rain when snow loading is present on upper slopes. Fees are free for Canterbury Mountaineering Club (CMC) members; other users should follow the listed fee and payment instructions, and Backcountry Hut Passes or Backcountry Hut Tickets can’t be used here.
