Wairaurahiri Hut
Wairaurahiri Hut is a 13-bunk standard hut in Fiordland National Park (Tuatapere area), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served hut—no standard bookings are required—so plan to arrive with enough time to settle in and secure a bed.
Use a DOC Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night’s stay, and place it in the honesty box at the hut. Adult (18+) fees are $10 per night and youth (5–17) fees are $5 per night (child/infant 0–4 is free) through 30 June 2026; rates change from 1 July 2026. The hut has drinking water described as untreated, a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with pit-latrine disposal.
