Walt Hill Hut
Route Details
Walt Hill Hut is a fully enclosed, winterized backcountry hut operated by qPAWS. The hut sleeps 10 and includes an outhouse and picnic tables. It was built during the summer of 2012 and the site overlooks Horseshoe Valley and its connected chain of lakes forming the Powell Forest Canoe Route.
To get to Walt Hill Hut from the Sunshine Coast Trail route network, the official access description starts from the junction of Wharf Street and Marine Avenue, then drives south on Highway 101 to Duck Lake Forest Service Road 3477 Br.1; from there you continue by improved road to Duck Lake, cross Lang Creek bridge, and follow the south shore of Duck Lake to Burma Junction before turning for the Walt Hill access. The hut isnβt at the summit; from the Walt Hill section of the SCT you descend slightly and then reach the hut up on Pentstemon Bluff overlooking Horseshoe Valley.
