Wills Hut

Wills Hut is a standard four-bunk backcountry hut in Mount Aspiring National Park, in the Makarora area. It’s operated by the Department of Conservation and works on a first come, first served basis (no bookings).

To use the hut, you need a Standard Hut Ticket bought in advance; put it in the honesty box at the hut for each night you stay. Rates are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). The hut has drinking water set to no, toilets with pit latrine disposal, and it has a fireplace and mattresses. From the nearest road end on SH6 (Haast Highway) via the Wills Valley Track, plan about 5–6 hours (around 7.5 km) to reach the hut.
