Burnt Yards Hut

Burnt Yards Hut is a private backcountry shelter in Marlborough, New Zealand, on Muller Station. Access is by remote tramping/hiking routes (often via the Acheron or Saxton River catchments), and visiting requires prior permission from the landowners/station; trespassing isn’t tolerated.

The hut has 8 bunks and is equipped with heating and mattresses, plus lighting and toilet facilities. Fire setup is provided as a wood stove and closed fire, with a wood supply expected to be restocked for the next users.

Plan on bringing rubbish out and leaving the hut tidy. Water is handled by roof collection into a tank, so have a plan for treating/using stored water and suitable food and overnight gear for a remote, private-hut visit.
