Cold Stream Hut

Cold Stream Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Lake Sumner Forest Park (North Canterbury and Arthur’s Pass area). It’s a standard six-bunk hut on a first-come, first-served basis—no bookings required—operated for overnight use by walkers in the backcountry.

Use is pay-on-arrival: buy a Standard Hut Ticket (adult/youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut; alternatively, use a Backcountry Hut Pass that covers unlimited use of most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. The hut sleeps 6 and is equipped with mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets with pit-latrine disposal; drinking water is not provided.
