Connors Creek Hut

Connors Creek Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Upper Wairau River area (Nelson Lakes area). It’s a standard 6-bunk hut used as a base in the Nelson/Tasman region for walkers needing overnight accommodation without vehicle access at the hut itself.

The hut is first come, first served and has bedding provided (mattresses). A fireplace is included, and toilet facilities are available with pit-latrine disposal. Standard hut tickets are required for stays: buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night in an honesty box at the hut (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12 month period). Fees are listed for adults and youth, with rates updating from 1 July 2026. To reach the hut, travel east out of St Arnaud toward Blenheim for 8.4 km, turn right onto Wairau-Hanmer Springs Hydro Rd (signed “Rainbow Skifield”), continue 27 km to the Homestead, then drive 1 km farther; turn right onto a 4WD road where a high-clearance 4WD vehicle is required, then continue 1 km to the hut.
