Elizabeth Hut
Elizabeth Hut is a Department of Conservation standard six-bunk hut in the Ahaura River and Lake Brunner catchments area (West Coast). It’s set up for backcountry use in the Greymouth area and is accessed via the hut ticket system rather than an online reservation.
Beds are first come, first served. You pay with a Standard Hut Ticket placed in the honesty box at the hut (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass that covers most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period). Adult (18+) is $10 per night and Youth (5–17) is $5 per night (Child/Infant 0–4 is free). The hut has a fireplace, mattresses, and toilet facilities with a pit latrine; there’s no drinking water at the hut.
