Evangaline Bivvy

Evangaline Bivvy is a small Department of Conservation backcountry bunk hut in Lake Sumner Forest Park (North Canterbury / Arthur’s Pass area). It’s a basic two-bunk setup used for self-reliant overnight trips: bookings aren’t required and it operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

The hut has two bunks (no mattress provided) and has a pit latrine; no drinking water is provided and there is a fireplace. It has no DOC track access, so you’ll need to plan your own route and navigate using map, compass, and GPS.
