Fishtail Hut

Fishtail Hut is a standard 4-bunk backcountry hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Marlborough) managed by the Department of Conservation. It’s first come, first served (no standard booking is required).

Use fees are charged by night using an honesty system: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and children/infants (0–4) are free. Before staying, buy a Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut; an alternative is a Backcountry Hut Pass that allows unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period.
