Fowlers Hut

Fowlers Hut is a backcountry DOC shelter in the St James Conservation Area, managed by the Department of Conservation. It functions as a base for the Fowlers Pass Track and sits on the Tophouse Road side of the upper Waiau Uwha valley.

The hut is set up for 6 people and includes a wood burner/heating. In planning trips in this area, be prepared for river crossings and scree; in winter, snow travel can involve difficult crossings and the terrain can be prone to avalanches.
