Hidden Hut
Hidden Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Leatham Conservation Area (South Marlborough, Marlborough region). It’s a standard 4-bunk hut in the South Marlborough area, with no booking required—use is first come, first served.
Use is ticket-based: you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night, placed in the honesty box at the hut (adult blue tickets and youth yellow tickets). Alternatively, a Backcountry Hut Pass can be used for unlimited nights at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period.
Inside, it has a fireplace and mattresses, and it provides toilets with a pit latrine disposal system. Drinking water is not provided. Fees are listed for Adult (18+) at $10 per night and Youth (5–17) at $5 per night, with children/infants (0–4) free. Road damage can affect access around the Marlborough Sounds, so check local road updates before you travel.
