Jolliebrook Hut

Jolliebrook Hut is a standard seven-bunk backcountry hut in Lake Sumner Forest Park (Canterbury region), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for first-come, first-served use—no advance booking is required for a stay.

Plan on using hut tickets/pass system: you buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (placed in the honesty box at the hut). Adult (18+) is $10 per night and youth (5–17) is $5 per night; children/infants (0–4) are free. Dogs aren’t allowed. The hut has a fireplace and mattresses, and toilets use a pit latrine. No drinking water is provided.
