Koranga Forks Hut

Koranga Forks Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut managed by the Department of Conservation in the Waioweka Conservation Area (East Coast). It’s set up for first-come, first-served stays—no bookings are required, but you must obtain a Standard Hut Ticket for each night in an honesty box at the hut (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts over a 12-month period).

The hut has drinking water provided as untreated and a pit latrine for toilets. A fireplace and mattresses are provided. Fees apply: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, child/infant (0–4) free, with fees continuing up to 30 June 2026 before new rates apply from 1 July 2026.
