Lake Alexander Hut
Lake Alexander Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 6-bunk hut in the Ferny Gair Conservation Area (South Marlborough). It was built in the early 1960s by the New Zealand Forest Service for animal control and was refurbished in 2010.
Bookings aren’t required—stay is first come, first served for the 6 beds. Fees apply and are collected using a hut ticket placed in an honesty box, or you can use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12‑month period. The hut has mattresses and a fireplace, plus toilets with pit latrine disposal.
