Mt Leitch Bivvy

Mt Leitch Bivvy is a private hut in the Paparoa Range South conservation area, run by the Paparoa Wildlife Trust for kiwi research and pest-control operations. It’s a locked bivvy with 2 bunks and use by non-members is by arrangement with the trust.

Practical planning: if you’re combining a Paparoa Ranges traverse, this bivvy is an off-track shelter option rather than a public booking hut—nearby route systems (such as the Mt Watson route) pass close enough that experienced trampers sometimes detour briefly to check it out, but it is not for general public use.
