Refugio La Angostura

Refugio La Angostura is a backcountry mountain refuge used on the Circuito Azara in Parque Nacional Perito Moreno, Santa Cruz, Argentina. It’s intended for self-sufficient trekking parties and serves as a key overnight stop between other refuges along the Brazo Belgrano sector.

The refuge has a maximum capacity of 6 people. The site also includes three attached camping plots for 1–4 people each. Wood availability/services aren’t provided; plan to carry your own gear and food, and bring a heater for cooking/heat use. A fire is supported only via the refuge’s fireplace setup, but fire restrictions in the broader area emphasize using a heater rather than open fires.

Use requires planning: stays are free, but registration and advance reservation are required through the park’s administration. For planning the route, La Angostura sits about 10 km from Refugio Tucúquere and about 6 km from Refugio Azara along the Circuito Azara route.
