Refugio René Negro

Refugio René Negro is a small backcountry hut on the Circuito Mirador Lago Belgrano in Parque Nacional Perito Moreno. It’s a basic refuge intended as a stopover on multi-day trekking, with room for a very limited group (3 people inside) plus two adjacent camping plots.

Use is free, and it includes a wood stove for cooking/warming. The hut is equipped with basic sleeping provisions (mattresses/colchonetas) and common basic gear; plan on bringing your own sleeping bag and a heater/combustible setup as needed for cold conditions.

Overnight stays require a reservation managed through the park administration. After reserving, you must complete the mandatory mountain-activity registration, and the maximum stay is limited to a short window per hut/camping area to keep space available for other trekkers.

The hut sits close to the south shore of Lago Belgrano; winds can be strong and sometimes hurricane-level in that area, so be prepared for exposure during approach and while staying at the refuge.
