Rocks Hut
Rocks Hut is a DOC backcountry hut in the Pelorus River valley, set in Mount Richmond Forest Park. It’s a standard 16-bunk hut used for overnight stays in the Marlborough region. The hut is first come, first served (no standard bookings required); you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night, which you place in the honesty box at the hut (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass with unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months).
Rocks Hut has a stove, mattresses and a bench area inside, plus a water tank outside; drinking water is untreated. The hut has toilets (pit latrine). A fireplace is available, and during winter months the water supply can freeze—often affecting the toilet; if flushing fails, use water from the rainwater tank to flush.
