Saxton Hut

Saxton Hut is a standard 6-bunk DOC backcountry hut in the Molesworth Recreation Reserve (South Marlborough). It’s first come, first served—no standard bookings are required. You’ll need to plan your own route and navigate yourself (there’s no DOC track access).

Facilities include a pit latrine and a fireplace, with untreated drinking water and mattresses provided. You’ll need a Standard Hut Ticket in the honesty box for each night you stay (or a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts for a 12-month period). Fees are listed per night and vary by age, with adult rates currently shown through 30 June 2026.
