Severn Hut

Severn Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Molesworth Recreation Reserve (Marlborough region). It’s a standard 6-bunk hut in the South Marlborough area, set up for self-sufficient trips—there’s no DOC track access, so you’ll need to plan and navigate using map, compass, and GPS.

The hut is first come, first served (no standard bookings required). To use it, you buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box; fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). The hut has a mattress (and pit latrine toilets); there’s no drinking water and no fireplace provided.
