Silverstream Bivouac

Silverstream Bivouac is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Leatham Conservation Area (South Marlborough). It’s a basic 2-bunk hut with no bookings required—use is free and it’s first come, first served.

Use is without a DOC track to the hut, so you need to plan your route and navigate yourself. The hut has 2 bunk beds and provides toilets (pit latrine), with no drinking water and no fireplace. If severe weather has damaged roads in the Marlborough Sounds, check road conditions before travelling and avoid crossing flooded rivers or streams—turn back or wait if you can’t cross safely.
