Top Hope Hut

Top Hope Hut is a backcountry hut managed by the Department of Conservation in Lake Sumner Forest Park (Canterbury). It’s a basic six-bunk hut in the North Canterbury and Arthur’s Pass area, with a fireplace for heating. You need to bring your own wood from the surrounding forest to use the fireplace.

Facilities include toilets (pit latrine) and bedding/mattresses are provided. Use is free and no bookings are required—stays are first come, first served.
